Of course you can. It’s been a tradition since 1945, as a celebration for the end of WWII. PLEASE BE CONSIDERATE! The targets are there for a reason! Do not target pedestrians or rooftop inhabitants. Also, since 1988, there has been a restriction of firing at aircraft taking off and landing at JFK.

Yes, Firearm Friday is real. Here in Minneapolis, we have Shotgun Saturdays, where they shoot little clay pigeons off the top of the IDS Center; it’s a lot cheaper than New York though, as each box of shells here is about $5. If you can hit 10 in a row, they take your picture and put you on the wall of fame. If you’re ever in Minneapolis, go to the IDS Center and when you’re in the lobby, ask for directions to the 51st Floor Shooting Gallery. But be careful, it is closed on most Mondays.
