Midwest Cuts Jobs

After grounding its fleet of 12, MD-80 jets, Midwest Airlines is laying off 1200 employees, or 40% of its work force. The Wisconsin based airline, joins the list of struggling airline companies in the United States, being held down by high fuel costs. As American travel activity decreases, Midwest, like its competitors, has to cut costs to avoid bankruptcy.
