CUT COSTS AND SAVE MONEY IN TODAY'S TROUBLED ECONOMY

Would you take a pay cut or pay freeze in order to keep company costs down?

even though the chief executive is not taking any pay, surely he could go for quite a while considering the staggering salary he’s on.

I took a pay freeze this year, along with all the rest of the faculty & staff, so that we could increase scholarship assistance to students. If they can’t afford to come to school, we don’t have anybody to teach.

No but they must had sold it to them good as quite a lot bought the idea.

Wait….I thought this was a ‘rich’ country?

I would not want a pay cut. But I have already been through several pay freezes during my lifetime. In bad times everyone has to contribute or there will be no jobs.

no - unless my landlord would give me a month rent free, same with council tax and fuel costs. I suppose it would be doable if you are in a relationship with someone who has a good income and could afford to lose that amount of money but for many they are going to feel presurised into working a month with no pay! How is someone on basic wage going to manage?

"surely he could go for quite a while considering the staggering salary he’s on." - maybe not, if you live the high life it might come with high costs. The more i’ve earned the more i’ve spent, the more mortgages i’ve taken, cars etc.

I would want to see the accounts before i took a pay freeze, why should i accept such a decision on faith? Nonetheless, no doubt BA are in trouble and the risks are geniune.

Knowing the alternative could be redundancies, yes, I’d be willing to if I could afford to.

no, I would not. Union members need to wake up and realize how much of a burden the union leadership has become and that the union should also be reducing costs. Time has come to make shop stewards actually work-the time when posting a permanent note on their desk/door saying "On Union Bussiness" -is over, get to work a**hole,I have to stand at my machine all day, get out here with me!
